CSCS is the Construction Skills Certification Scheme. Introduced in 1995, CSCS is designed to significantly improve the quality of work done by individuals throughout the industry and also to ensure that all workers have at least a basic knowledge of health and safety, a factor that has lead to a reduction in the number of construction accidents.
Entry Requirements:
To become certified by CSCS you will have to pass a Health and Safety Test and, for the advanced cards, have a recognised construction qualification. CSCS have designed a number of different CSCS Health and Safety Tests which are tailored to examine the applicant on the different hazards faced by construction workers in different trades.
Have the right to work in the UK.
Qualification/Progression:
To hold one of the more advanced Green, Blue, Gold or Black CSCS Cards you will be required to take and pass construction qualifications recognised by CSCS, usually the QCF.
